DESCRIPTION
Congratulations on making it to the Amateur section!
In this section you will be learning about good cable etiquette, the theory behind the techniques of using features and kickers. Afterwards you can put theory into action, in mastering the practical basics and first tricks using features and kickers.
Please note, the use of wakeboarding features increases the risk of injury! If you have 100% completed the Advanced Beginner section and the theory section of the Amateur level, you may feel you are ready to use cable wakeboarding features at your own risk.
Key topics are:
- Good Cable Etiquette
- Theory of using features and kickers
There are knowledge and practical elements included in Beginner Sessions, to build the foundation skills and understanding necessary to be able to visit a cable water sports facility and participate in open sessions unaided.
It is important to understand that not everyone will completely navigate the full course during their first beginner session, in fact it is rare for people to fully get to grips with it on their first visit. However, once you get it, there is no looking back!
CERTIFICATION
After completing the knowledge based assessment and proving your practical skills to an approved coach, you will be able to prove your ability upon arrival at cable parks around the world. Without this evidence, you could be asked to complete a similar assessment at a new cable park.
Please note, some cable parks have very stringent legal requirements based on their local authorities, governing bodies, insurance, and other factors. Therefore, you should not take it personally if you are required complete extra steps at different parks.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Understanding amateur level skills and trick terminology
- Completing the practical elements of basic flat water skills, which provide the foundations required before feature use
WHAT’S NEXT?
At this point, the world really is your oyster, as you really should really feel confident in attending amateur community events and getting involved! You may even consider going on foreign wakeboarding holidays or wake camps when it gets cooler at your local wake park.
In the Rookie level is the gateway to full spins and flips off kickers, and even your first air tricks, so you too can look like Superman! Please note, don’t call it a Superman, but that’s what most Aqua Park participants will be shouting as you Raley out of a corner!
